Softball Game Preview: Wellsville Lions vs. Olean Huskies

The Wellsville Lions will face off against the Olean Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Wellsville sitting on six straight victories and Olean on five.

Wellsville proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 12) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Avoca-Prattsburgh 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since May 29, 2025.

Meanwhile, Olean earned a 12-7 victory over Dunkirk on Monday.

The team relied heavily on Anna Bates, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ari Finch, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Olean's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Wellsville, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.

Wellsville beat Olean 4-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
