Basketball Recap: Lewis County Piles Up the Points Against Frankfort

It's playoff time, and Lewis County had no trouble coming through when it counted. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 73-24 victory over the Frankfort Falcons. The Minutemen have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Lewis County to victory were Payten Goodwin and Ella Pinkney. Goodwin shot 60% from the field en route to 18 points, while Pinkney almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine steals. Pinkney is becoming a predictor of Lewis County's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is 10-1 (and 4-7 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Kenzie Egress, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 11 points and six rebounds.

The win (which was Lewis County's sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.2 points over those games. As for Frankfort, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season.

Lewis County will welcome Hampshire at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lewis County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Hampshire likes a good challenge. Frankfort does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
