Basketball Recap: Lanier Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lanier won the last time they faced Brackenridge, and Zach Martinez did his part to make sure it happened again. The Lanier Voks snuck past the Brackenridge Eagles with a 55-50 victory on Tuesday thanks in part to Martinez, who posted 17 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times he's played.

Elijah Garza was another key player, putting up 13 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Despite the loss, Brackenridge had strong showings from Jude Mendez, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds, and Felton Nance, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards.

The win was the fourth in a row for Lanier, bringing their record for this year to 15-14. As for Brackenridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-26 record this season.

Lanier has already played their next contest, a 61-46 victory against Sam Houston on the 7th. As for Brackenridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-36 defeat against Jefferson on the 7th.
