Baseball Recap: South Fork Comes Up Short

South Fork and Pembroke Pines Charter squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but South Fork had to settle for second. They came up short against the Jaguars, falling 8-1. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Miguel Ferry was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, South Fork saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

South Fork's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 13-14.

South Fork does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they will challenge Archbishop McCarthy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mavericks will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight.
