Basketball Recap: Malik Arogundade Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Mattoon

Brooks lost to Mattoon back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Brooks Eagles managed a 47-43 victory over the Mattoon Greenwave.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brooks to victory, but perhaps none more so than Malik Arogundade, who posted ten points and five rebounds. Bryce Hayes was another key player, putting up ten points.

Brooks' record now sits at 9-5. As for Mattoon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Brooks will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against King at 5:00 p.m. on January 7th. Brooks is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season. As for Mattoon, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-54 loss against Centennial on the 28th.
