It was another big night for Xavier Gonzalez, who rushed for 133 yards and two TDs. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 133 rushing yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Medina Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 344 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 238 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Alexander strolled past Del Rio with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 21-7. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Alexander's win came from a few key players Medina Valley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gael Rubio, who rushed for 93 yards and one touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Alexander's defense and their eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Austin Martinez and Juan Godoy, who racked up six sacks between them. With that strong performance, Martinez is now averaging an impressive 5.5 total tackles per game. Caleb Palomo was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Medina Valley's record now sits at 4-2. As for Alexander, their record is now an identical 4-2.
Medina Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Alexander in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 14-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
