Basketball Game Preview: Victory Christian Center Kings vs. Lake Norman Christian Lions

The Victory Christian Center Kings will head out on the road to square off against the Lake Norman Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Victory Christian Center is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Victory Christian Center got the win against New Garden Friends by a conclusive 50-30. Given the Kings' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Bears are ranked 259th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Justyn Whitfield continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 for 14 on his way to 17 points and three steals. His evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Marshall, who posted seven points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, Lake Norman Christian posted their closest victory since November 15th on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Charlotte Lab School 2-0. The two-point effort marked Lake Norman Christian's lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The victory got Victory Christian Center back to even at 6-6. As for Lake Norman Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Victory Christian Center against Lake Norman Christian in their previous meeting back in February, as the team secured an 85-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Victory Christian Center since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
