Baseball Recap: Northwest's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Northwest came into Tuesday's match having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Ville Platte Bulldogs on Tuesday as they made off with an 11-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-2 back in March.

Dreamon Haywood and A. Dupre made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Haywood pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Dupre tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. At bat, Haywood scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Dupre scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. Dupre has become a key player for Northwest: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-21 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Batiste, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was C. Malveaux, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Northwest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ville Platte only posted an OBP of .391.

Northwest's victory bumped their record up to 7-22. As for Ville Platte, their defeat was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-18.

Looking ahead, Northwest will challenge Grace Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ville Platte, they will welcome Rapides at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
