Softball Game Preview: Ramona Convent Tigers vs. South Gate Rams

The Ramona Convent Tigers will square off against the South Gate Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. South Gate took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Ramona Convent, who comes in off a win.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Wednesday. Ramona Convent was the clear victor by a 28-2 margin over Westridge. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Ramona Convent.

Madison Garcia was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Garcia was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Citlali Garcia, who went 5-for-6 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abigail Vazquez, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Meanwhile, South Gate fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Marquez on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Gladiators, falling 14-7. The Rams just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Ramona Convent's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for South Gate, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-16.
