Baseball Recap: Frankfort Takes a Loss

Frankfort extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 10-6 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Peru Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hot Dogs have suffered since May 11, 2024.

Frankfort saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Sandoval-Alanis, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. JJ Mejia also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Peru, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Peru's side, Lucas Musser was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Musser a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reis Bellar, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Frankfort and Peru could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Hot Dogs (ranked 74th) will meet Harrison (ranked 15th) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Peru will face off against Rochester at 5:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (136 vs. 40).
