The Colony Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Houston Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Friday, Colony needed a bit of extra time to put away West Valley. They came out on top against the Wolf Pack by a score of 10-7. The win was familiar territory for the Knights, who have now won three games in a row.
The team relied heavily on Hayden Sherman, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Boman Marks was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Houston). They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Grace Christian on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won three in a row.
Jayden Garcia made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Ty Sonnentag was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ethan Spencer, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Houston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Houston's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Colony, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
