Basketball Recap: Metamora Comes Up Short

Metamora has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 57-47 to the Minooka Indians on Saturday. The Redbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Leading Minooka to victory were Naya Carter and Madelyn Kiper. Carter almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards, while Kiper posted 22 points. Kiper's afternoon made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Jaelle Hamilton, who had five points.

Metamora's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Minooka, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Metamora will challenge Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Minooka, they will square off against Plainfield Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
