Softball Game Preview: Eureka Hornets vs. Heyworth Hornets

Eureka will head out to challenge Heyworth at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Eureka will be strutting in after a victory while Heyworth will be coming in after a defeat.

While Eureka's win against El Paso-Gridley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hornets had just enough and edged out the Titans 5-4 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Heyworth came up short against Lexington on Wednesday and fell 13-8. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Grace Streenz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs. Emily Rogers was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Heyworth's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Eureka, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season.

Eureka couldn't quite get it done against Heyworth when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can Eureka avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
