Softball Recap: Maumee Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Maumee dropped their record down to 14-11 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They fell 5-2 to the Eastwood Eagles. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Taylor Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

As for Eastwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

On Eastwood's side, MacKenzie Hady spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Jenna Lubash was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Addison Bowe was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Maumee and Eastwood should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Panthers (ranked 161st) will meet Southview (ranked 327th) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Eastwood will take on Swanton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (31 vs. 291).
