Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Faith Baptist

Faith Baptist waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 53-35 victory over the Immanuel Baptist Fire. Given the Eagle's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Fire are ranked 457th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Faith Baptist's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gigi Montgomery, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 12 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. That's the most boards Montgomery has posted since back in December of 2023. Bailey Burton was another key player, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Faith Baptist's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points over those games. As for Immanuel Baptist, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Looking ahead, Faith Baptist will take on Fostoria Baptist Academy in a tournament on Friday. Faith Baptist is facing Fostoria Baptist Academy at the right time seeing as Fostoria Baptist Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Immanuel Baptist does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
