Gate City had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They beat the Hampton Bulldogs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 61-55. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 61-55 win last Friday.

Gate City's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points over those games. As for Hampton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 22-9 record this season.
