Edinburgh is a perfect 4-0 against Greenwood Christian Academy since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Lancers will take on the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Edinburgh has five straight wins, Greenwood Christian Academy has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Edinburgh beats Greenwood Christian Academy with six runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Lancers beat Jac-Cen-Del on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-4.
The team relied heavily on Gracie Barrett, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Adalynn Ramey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Greenwood Christian Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter on Saturday and fell 12-11.
Kaylee Edgar put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and eight unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
In other batting news, Sarai Gabrielle Robertson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Grace Kahle, who went 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
Edinburgh pushed their record up to 13-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Greenwood Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Edinburgh has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Greenwood Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Edinburgh took their victory against Greenwood Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 16-0 score. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
