Softball Recap: Oxford Academy Patriots vs. Artesia Pioneers
Oxford Academy came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 28-6 to the Artesia Pioneers. If the Patriots were looking for revenge after losing 19-4 to the Pioneers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Shay Tiettmeyer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Amethyst Fredette also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Oxford Academy's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 14-4. As for Artesia, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Oxford Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 13-9 victory against Portola on the 10th. As for Artesia, they will venture away from home to challenge Glenn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.23 runs per game on average), something the Pioneers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
