Football Recap: Garey Vikings vs. Duarte Falcons
After soaring to 33 points the game before, Garey was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They took a hard 26-12 fall against the Duarte Falcons.
Duarte had a senior duo take command as Leo Aguirre rushed for 127 yards on only 14 carries and Avenn Ortiz threw for 146 yards and a touchdown. Those 127 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Aguirre.
Garey now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Duarte, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garey will venture away from home to challenge Ganesha at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Duarte, they are taking a road trip to square off against Workman at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Duarte is facing Workman at the right time seeing as Workman is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
