Basketball Recap: Sam Rayburn Takes a Loss

Sam Rayburn has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 29.67 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They took a blow against the Gunter Tigers, falling 57-19. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 470th, while the Tigers are ranked 77th).

Sam Rayburn's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Gunter, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 19-3.

Sam Rayburn will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Tom Bean at 5:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Gunter, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lindsay at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
