Football Recap: San Tan Foothills Sabercats vs. Apache Junction Prospectors
San Tan Foothills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 33-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Apache Junction Prospectors. The Sabercats lost against the Prospectors in their previous head to head back in September of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 51-0 score last time.
Aiden Deleon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Apache Junction, throwing for 215 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 106 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. That's the most rushing yards Deleon has posted since back in September of 2023. Jaiden Montalvo was in the mix as well, providing Apache Junction with two touchdowns.
San Tan Foothills now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Apache Junction, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Tan Foothills' road trip will continue as they head out to face Pusch Ridge Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's defense has only allowed 10.2 points per game this season, so San Tan Foothills' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Apache Junction, they will face off against Bradshaw Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
