Even though the Pocono Mountain East Cardinals scored an imposing 58 points on Thursday, the Northampton Konkrete Kids still came out on top. Northampton took their match against Pocono Mountain East 68-58. Given Northampton's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Pocono Mountain East is ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Pocono Mountain East lost, one person who can't be blamed is Taemus Jones. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points. Jones scored a full 44.8% of Pocono Mountain East's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Northampton's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Pocono Mountain East, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-4.
Northampton will head out on the road to face off against Pocono Mountain West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pocono Mountain West is on a five-game streak of home wins, Northampton a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Pocono Mountain East will take on Whitehall at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Whitehall will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
