Basketball Game Preview: Drummond Lumberjacks vs. Mellen Granite Diggers

The Drummond Lumberjacks are taking a road trip to face off against the Mellen Granite Diggers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Drummond has three straight wins, Mellen has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, everything came up roses for Drummond against Bayfield as the squad secured a 53-23 victory. The Lumberjacks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Mellen was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 55-49 to Butternut.

Drummond's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Mellen, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-7.

Drummond came up short against Mellen in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 47-37. Can Drummond avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
