Softball Recap: Houston's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tipton-Rosemark Academy, Houston was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Collierville Dragons 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Madeleine McClure spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lindsey Barnes, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Kaylea Howell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Houston's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Collierville, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Houston will take on Bartlett at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Collierville, they will challenge Ripley at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
