Softball Recap: Johnston City Find Success

While Johnston City's win against Trico wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Pioneers on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 on Wednesday.

Peyton Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Zoee Cullum was excellent, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Peyton Smith, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Johnston City now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Trico, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-10.

Johnston City has already played their next contest, a 10-9 win against Mater Dei on the 3rd. As for Trico, they will face off against Elverado at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
