Softball Recap: Lebanon Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Lebanon had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Garden Spot Spartans with a sharp 15-2 victory on Monday. This was payback for the Cedars, who suffered a 20-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Sereniti Zidik was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Zidik was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Makenzie Swisher was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Jenna Seyfert was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lebanon will venture away from home to square off against Reading at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Garden Spot, they are taking a road trip to challenge Columbia at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
