Basketball Recap: Kaden Hammond Key Part of a Team Effort in Spartans Win

On Monday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, The Burlington School Spartans beat the Holly Springs Golden Hawks 74-69.

The Burlington School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaden Hammond led the charge by going 8 for 9 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. The game was Hammond's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Johnson, who posted 15 points.

The Burlington School's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Holly Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Burlington School will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Carolina Friends at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. As for Holly Springs, they will square off against Green Level at 6:00 p.m. on January 7th. Green Level is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.3 points per game this season.
