Softball Game Preview: Oxford Yellow Jackets vs. Shades Valley Mounties

The Oxford Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to challenge the Shades Valley Mounties at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Oxford nor Shades Valley posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Tuesday, Oxford came up short against Alexandria and fell 5-1. The loss continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their meetings with the Valley Cubs: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Shades Valley fell victim to Pell City and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 15-0. The Mounties have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oxford's defeat dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Shades Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.

Everything went Oxford's way against Shades Valley when the teams last played on Thursday, as Oxford made off with a 19-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellow Jackets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
