Baseball Recap: Greenbrier Christian Academy Falls Short of Steward in the Playoffs

Greenbrier Christian Academy and Steward squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Greenbrier Christian Academy had to settle for second. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The Gators' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Hayden Dunlow was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Thomas Conrad and Josh Henkel stepped up to the plate in a big way. Conrad went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Henkel went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Conrad is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Bonney, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Greenbrier Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 24-5. As for Steward, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-10.

As of now, neither Greenbrier Christian Academy nor the Spartans have any future games scheduled.
