Basketball Game Preview: Hughes BIG RED vs. Goshen Warriors

The Hughes BIG RED will face off against the Goshen Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hughes is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

Last Friday, Hughes greeted the New Year with with a 60-42 win over Gamble Montessori.

Hughes found their leader in freshman LeShawn Hill, who went 5 of 10 en route to 19 points and four steals. Hill's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sir Stirling, who posted six points along with six boards and four blocks.

Meanwhile, Goshen opened the new year with a less-than-successful 43-33 loss to Harrison. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Hughes will need focus on slowing down Bray Settelmayer, one of several Goshen players who made an impact when they last played. He put up 16 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Rose, who had six points along with nine boards and three blocks.

Goshen's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Hughes, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

Everything came up roses for Hughes against Goshen when the teams last played back in March of 2017, as the squad secured an 83-52 win. In that contest, Hughes amassed a halftime lead of 45-22, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
