Recap: Del Norte Knights vs. La Cueva Bears
The Del Norte Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 74-50 defeat at the hands of La Cueva. Del Norte has struggled against La Cueva recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Del Norte saw an underclassman step up: Julian Castillo scored 22 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Castillo has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Francois Satchivi, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Del Norte has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for La Cueva, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.
Del Norte will head out on the road to square off against Bernalillo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for La Cueva, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on West Mesa at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (West Mesa is ranked 19th, while La Cueva is ranked sixth).
