Basketball Preview: Patel Trailblazers vs. Excel Christian Academy Spartans
Two dominant guards in SIMARKAE MCLEAN and Anyla Parker are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Patel Trailblazers and the Excel Christian Academy Spartans will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Patel focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday.
Patel struggled with assists on Wednesday (the Patriots had 24 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Patel was beaten by the Patriots 70-42.
MCLEAN put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 29 points. That was a full 69% of Patel's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Excel Christian Academy came up short against the Seahawks on Friday and fell 61-51. Excel Christian Academy has struggled against the Seahawks recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Patel has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. As for Excel Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
Patel came up short against the Spartans in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 74-68. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Parker, who scored 43 points.
