Softball Recap: Littlefield Find Success

It was a proper cat-fight when Littlefield challenged Childress on Saturday. The Littlefield Wildcats narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Childress Bobcats 3-2. The three-run effort marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Natalia Sanchez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Sanchez wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Torres, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Maggie McNeese also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Littlefield and bumps their season record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs over those games. As for Childress, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Littlefield didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-7 win against Canadian on the 22nd. As for Childress, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-3 victory against Canyon on the 22nd.
