Softball Game Preview: Hagerty Huskies vs. Creekside Knights

The Hagerty Huskies will challenge the Creekside Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hagerty will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Hagerty is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past University 10-1. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Hagerty got a great performance from Ella Verne as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Verne has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nicole Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Alexis Felker, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Hagerty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as University only posted a batting average of .160.

Spruce Creek typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Creekside proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hawks, sneaking past 3-1.

Creekside has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Hagerty, they pushed their record up to 21-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
