Basketball Game Preview: Welsh Greyhounds vs. Mamou Demons

The Welsh Greyhounds will venture away from home to challenge the Mamou Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Welsh's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.

Welsh easily dispatched Johnson Bayou on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Welsh fell just short of Fairview by a score of 74-72 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Panthers are ranked 51st).

Meanwhile, Mamou waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They skirted past the Warriors 65-63. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Demons have posted since December 9, 2023.

Mamou has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Welsh, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Welsh beat Mamou 48-37 in their previous matchup back in December of 2020. Does Welsh have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mamou turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
