Basketball Recap: Garrett Triumphs

Prairie Heights came into Saturday's contest looking for another win against Garrett, but Sarah DePew wouldn't allow it. The Railroaders walked away with a 55-44 win over the Panthers on Saturday thanks in part to DePew, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Emma Coffman was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. Garrett is undefeated when Coffman posts three or more steals, but 0-3 otherwise.

When it comes to explaining why Prairie Heights lost, don't look at Bailee Godsey. Despite the final result, she posted nine points along with eight boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddison Certain, who had five points and six rebounds.

Garrett now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Prairie Heights, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Garrett will head out on the road to challenge Leo at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Prairie Heights, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakewood Park Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
