Softball Game Preview: Dawson-Boyd Blackjacks vs. Yellow Medicine East Sting

Dawson-Boyd is 8-1 against Yellow Medicine East since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Blackjacks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sting at 4:30 p.m. Dawson-Boyd has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with six straight defeats, while Yellow Medicine East will come in with three straight victories.

Dawson-Boyd lost 13-2 to Lakeview on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Yellow Medicine East never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They came out on top against Ortonville by a score of 4-0.

Not much got past Bayli Sneller, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Ortonville off the board. Sneller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ella Cherveny, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kourtney Peterson, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Yellow Medicine East's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Dawson-Boyd, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Everything went Dawson-Boyd's way against Yellow Medicine East in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Dawson-Boyd made off with an 8-2 victory. Will the Blackjacks repeat their success, or do the Sting have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
