Wheaton North faced Lake Park in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Falcons came out on top against the Lancers by a score of 5-1. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won four in a row.

Hannah Wulf made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

Wulf wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Abby Del Preto, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Wheaton North's win bumped their record up to 21-7. As for Lake Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-7.

Looking ahead, Wheaton North will venture away from home to face off against Glenbard North at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 3.1, the Panthers 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Lake Park, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Elgin at 4:30 p.m.
