Preview: Munster Mustangs vs. Portage Indians
Munster and Portage are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Munster Mustangs just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Portage Indians at 10:00 a.m. on December 29th. Munster knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Portage likes a good challenge.
Munster has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Morgan Township with a sharp 55-35 win on Thursday.
Munster relied on the efforts of Cecilia Mason, who scored 17 points along with six assists and four steals, and Gracyn Gilliard, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. The match was Gilliard's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nina Garner, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Portage lost to Hammond Central at home by a decisive 58-44 margin last Thursday.
Munster is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Portage, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Munster beat Portage 56-44 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Does Munster have another victory up their sleeve, or will Portage turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
