Volleyball Recap: Concordia Takes a Loss

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Concordia and Northwest meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Fighting Orioles lost 3-0 to the Mustangs. The Fighting Orioles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Concordia was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-20, 25-21.

Despite the loss, Concordia saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Riley Gordillo had nine digs and two assists.

Concordia's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Northwest, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Concordia will take on Lexington at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Northwest, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Smithton at 5:00 p.m. on the 23rd.
