Softball Game Preview: Field Falcons vs. Perry Pirates

The Field Falcons will take on the Perry Pirates at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Field's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Perry's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Field barely beat Tallmadge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Blue Devils on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 17 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Perry had no problem doing just that on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Warriors 5-3. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Sophie Sivon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elise Strahan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Arianna Rogers was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

The victory (which was Field's third in a row) raised their record to 22-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Perry, their victory bumped their record up to 20-8.
