Baseball Recap: Alisal Trojans vs. Monte Vista Christian Mustangs
Alisal extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 13-12 in the process. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monte Vista Christian Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-4 on Monday.
As for Monte Vista Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games.
For Monte Vista Christian's part, Dante Darnell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched. Darnell has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Carter Wright was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Tyson Shaw was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
