Tiverton and Davies Career & Tech are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Tigers will host the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Davies Career & Tech's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Tiverton hadn't allowed a single run the last five times they've hit the field. The Tigers didn't even let Juanita Sanchez Complex on the board on Thursday, marking the Tigers' second-straight 16-0 shutout.
Lia Doster and Liliana Luis made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Doster struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Luis pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Doster has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Doster went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Luis fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave Luis a new career-high.
In other batting news, Tiverton let Carlie Martin and Kelsey Conway run wild. Martin went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Conway went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most hits Conway has posted since back in April. Brooke Sowa was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Tiverton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Juanita Sanchez Complex only posted an OBP of .100.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Davies Career & Tech, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Paul Cuffee a 16-0 shutout on Thursday.
Gabriella Fisher made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fisher was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Darelyn Maldonado was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kylie Robert, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
Tiverton pushed their record up to 15-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 10.7 runs thus far. As for Davies Career & Tech, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Both Tiverton and Davies Career & Tech just can't seem to miss. The Tigers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Davies Career & Tech struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tiverton couldn't quite finish off Davies Career & Tech in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 11-9. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
