Baseball Recap: Owen Takes a Loss

Owen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Erwin Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warhorses of the 12-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

Stephen Anderson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. He also put up a run, which was his first of the season. Hayden Burpeau was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Owen's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Erwin, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Owen will venture away from home to face off against Mountain Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Owen is facing Mountain Heritage at the right time seeing as Mountain Heritage is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Erwin, they will square off against Asheville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Asheville will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
