Basketball Game Preview: Martins Ferry Purple Riders vs. Cambridge Bobcats

The Martins Ferry Purple Riders and the Cambridge Bobcats will round out the year against one another at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Martins Ferry is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Martins Ferry ended up a good deal behind Indian Valley and lost 75-56. While losing is never fun, the Purple Riders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while the Braves are ranked 21st).

Meanwhile, Cambridge suffered their biggest loss since January 24th on Saturday. They came up short against John Glenn, falling 76-53. The defeat continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Little Muskies: they've now lost four in a row.

Martins Ferry's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Cambridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Everything went Martins Ferry's way against Cambridge in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, as Martins Ferry made off with a 73-48 win. Will Martins Ferry repeat their success, or does Cambridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
