Softball Game Preview: Etiwanda Eagles vs. Oaks Christian Lions

The Etiwanda Eagles will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Oaks Christian Lions at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Etiwanda will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Etiwanda's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Beaumont by a score of 3-0.

Dailynn Battee was incredible, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Gisselle Peraza was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Etiwanda hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Oaks Christian posted their closest win since February 27, 2024 on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Simi Valley 4-3. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Pioneers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Oaks Christian also got a great performance from Paityn Lavin as she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, Lavin posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Giabella Otani, who went 2-for-4 with one home run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Beck, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Etiwanda's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Oaks Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
