Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Yerington's 14th in Last 15 Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Yerington had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the West Wendover Wolverines 11-1. Considering the Lions have won 19 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brent Brinkley spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Yerington let Kyson Shramek and Colby Rowe run wild. Shramek went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Rowe went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Rowe has posted over his last nine games. Brody Carlgren was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Yerington is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for West Wendover, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-9.

Yerington has already played their next matchup, a 6-3 win against Oasis Academy on the 10th. West Wendover does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
