Softball Recap: Northeast Nodaway Blue Jays vs. North Andrew Cardinals
It was a good run, but Northeast Nodaway unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the North Andrew Cardinals by a score of 5-4. Hadley Defreece was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Defreece wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Blair Nelson, who went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Another player making a difference was Lindsey Jackson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Northeast Nodaway's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5. As for North Andrew, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-18 record this season.
