Softball Recap: Lansdowne Comes Up Short

Lansdowne extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 1-13. They came up short against the Western Tech & Environmental Science Wolverines, falling 16-0. The shutout was out of character for the Vikings seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

As for Western Tech & Environmental Science, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-6. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Western Tech & Environmental Science's part, Ella Durham made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Durham was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

In other batting news, Juliahna Thomas and Nicole Camacho did most of the damage at the plate: Thomas went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs, while Camacho got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was Thomas' first of the season. Danica Minter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Coming up, Lansdowne will look to defend their home field on Monday against Oakland Mills at 4:00 p.m. The Scorpions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.89 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. Western Tech & Environmental Science does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
