Softball Recap: Bowie's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Bowie has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They fell 13-8 to the Del Valle Cardinals. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won 12-1.

Cadie Hays and Josie Busceme did some serious damage despite the final result: Hays went 1-for-4 with one home run, while Busceme scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Bella Nungaray was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Bowie's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6. As for Del Valle, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-4-1.

Coming up, Bowie will take on Dripping Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Del Valle, they will face off against Lake Travis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Cardinals' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
